Group 6: Culture- Art

Art was very special to Rome, it defined the very essence of who they were and what they liked/wanted.  As the art historians you will need to find out citizens in what way art played a role in Roman society.  In the end you must be able to answer these questions within your presentation (make sure that if the answers to the questions include certain occurrences or works you and your group need to include the dates):

1.      What type of art did the Romans have? What forms did the art take (i.e. was it painted, written, drawn, etc.)?

2.      Who are some of the most famous artists from Rome?

3.      What did Roman art represent?

4.      What are some of the most famous works throughout the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire?

After you have read your questions, think as a group if there is more that you and your classmates may want to know on the subject.  Afterwards, divide the questions up between you and formulate a time line in which you want to pull your resources/answers together.  As a group decide on exactly how you want to present.  Remember, the use of technology is encouraged, not necessarily required.  However, for the final project, there will be a works cited page required.  This includes all of the resources that you have used to form the final presentation (internet and non-internet).
