Group 2: Military
As historians of the military zone of the Roman Empire, it is your job to let people know how the Romans expanded their empire. You need to find out how the military was situated, who made up the military, how the military evolved throughout the expansions, and what resources were needed by the military (weapons, horses, etc.). In the end you must be able to answer these questions within your presentation (make sure that if the answers to the questions include certain occurrences or works you and your group need to include the dates):
1. Who made up the military units? Did that ever change?
2. What were the different types of military within the Roman systems?
3. In what way was the military used?
4. What techniques were used within the military (formations, process of battle, etc.)?
5. What resources did the military use?
6. What types of weapons did they use?
7. What are some of the most significant battles (and wars) in the Roman Expansion? Why are they important?
8. What significances), if any, does the Roman military have in regards to military today?
As you and your group read these questions, decide how you are going to divide up the work load in research your topic. After everyone has had time to research/answer the questions/area they were designated, come back together and put your information together in a concise format. From there decide how you will want to present the information of your particular area. Remember, the use of technology is encouraged, not necessarily required. However, for the final project, there will be a works cited page required. This includes all of the resources that you have used to form the final presentation (internet and non-internet).
